Style Stripper

What?

Style Stripper is a simple Applescript application to convert the contents of the clipboard to plain text. A friend asked me to write this for him and even though I hardly ever use it, he claims to use it multiple times every day. So, I figured others may also have a use for this.

How?

Using this is simple. Copy some text to your clipboard, open this app, then paste. Whatever fonts, colors, and other styles were there will now be gone. When you run this app, it simply opens and closes with no visual indication that it has done anything. This was a deliberate decision so that it didn't get in the way of my friend's workflow. He keeps it in his Dock and clicks it whenever he needs to clean up text just before pasting.

Not Working?

Be aware that if you copy from a location that sends html code to the clipboard, then run this, then paste into a program that converts html code into styled text upon pasting, this app will appear to not be working. What's happening in such a case is that the html code is already plain text, but when you paste it, the program creates it's own styling based on the code you have pasted. If this happens, just highlight the final text that showed up in your document, cut it, run this program, then paste again. That should take care of it.
